Learning with Little Passports

This post may contain affiliate links.  Every time a link is clicked or a product is purchased directly from the link, a percentage goes towards our homeschooling budget.  Thank you for supporting our homeschool.

I was recently given the opportunity to try one month free of Little Passports.  It's a ton of fun and a very cute idea.

What is Little Passports?

"It's your child's ticket to an exciting global adventure.  Inspire a love and understanding of the world as your child learns about a new country every month." ~Little Passports

There are two editions that you can take advantage of based on ages:
You get to take fun pretend adventures with Little Passports characters: Sam and Sofia.  I love the concept.  My girls received a pretend passport which almost resembles the real thing, a map, stickers, activity sheets, etc., in an adorable pretend suitcase.  They loved pretending to travel the world.  I am thinking of continuing our subscription in the months ahead to receive more goodies in the mail once a month.

How much does a monthly subscription to Little Passports cost?    Here are the available plans for both the World Edition and the USA Edition:
  • 3-Month Plan: $13.95/Month or One Time Payment of $41.85.
  • 6-Month Plan: $13.95/Month or One Time Payment of $83.70
  • 12-Month Plan: $10.95/Month or One Time Payment of $131.40
  • Month Plan: $11.95/Month Billed Monthly, Cancel Anytime

Would you utilize something like Little Passports in your Homeschool?  I thought this would be perfect for the summer months or even geography themes throughout the year.  What are your thoughts?

Utilizing the Visual Thesaurus

This post may contain affiliate links.  Every time you click the link or purchase something from a link, a percentage goes towards our homeschooling budget.  Thank you for supporting our homeschool.

Have you introduced your homeschool to the Thesaurus?  We just recently had a lesson using a Thesaurus along with our introduction to the Encyclopedia.

I am all about using traditional books as this is important, but it's nice to be able to utilize tools online as well.

I recently found the Virtual Thesaurus and thought I would share it with you.  You basically just type in a word to look it up and Presto!  The Visual Thesaurus allows you to discover connections between words with a visual display!

When you subscribe to the Visual Thesaurus, you also get access to their Spelling Bee, VocabGrabber, and Online Magazine.

I look forward to utilizing something such as this visual Thesaurus in our homeschool.  I am doing something different this year in our curriculum.  It ranges from online, to text, and Kindle.  This is an excellent tool, especially when on the go.

Visual Thesaurus will give you a 14 day trial to give it a shot.  After that it is $2.95 a month or $19.95 per year!  Not too shabby and is definitely worth it.

Would you utilize Visual Thesaurus for your homeschool?  Would love to read your thoughts.

MOMMY TIME: I just had my 4 year old try to say Thesaurus.  It was the funniest and cutest thing ever.  It came out as: Seth-ar-us.  Gotta love that.

Be gone sickies!

Poor hubby got the case of the sickies this week.  Strep throat, sinus infection, fever, ugh!  Not a fun thing.  Poor guy has been miserable and this mom and wife is praying for quick recovery.  Kelly Belly got hit with a fever and a cough poor girl.  These sickies have got to go and the only way they can or will for that matter is to pray them out and of course disinfect.  Yeah, I have been disinfecting like crazy but it feels good to be rid of those lingering germs.

Lyssa, Bethany, and myself have had no symptoms other than a few sniffles here and there but we are hanging strong taking care of daddy and Kelly.  It's such a pathetic sight seeing those two sacked out in the living room but it's also so stinkin' cute.  I would take a picture but I don't know if they would be too happy about that. I know I would have a fit if someone posted a picture of me when I'm sick, haha!

Anyways, because of the sickies, our homeschool week kind of got thrown off.  I cannot stand it when routines and schedules get out of whack but I have learned very quickly with kids, you just gotta let it go.  It's life so move on lady, (talking to myself lol)

If you and your family are currently struggling with the sickies, let's pray this prayer together:

"Dear Lord Jesus, we thank you that you love us and that you made us.  Because you made us we believe you can rid us of these nasty sickies, they don't have to take residence in our homes and bodies so we say BE GONE sickies in Jesus name.  We thank you for health, strength, and peace.  We love you Father and ask that you give us joy through our recovery.  We love you Lord, in Jesus name, Amen!"

Lindsey's Reading Corner

As a homeschooling mom, I love looking for the best deals on children's books including educational resources. What homeschooling mom doesn't love that right? Because of my passion I have partnered with childrensbookstore.com to help get you amazing deals on children's books and educational resources. With much thought I decided to start a separate blog in this category as it contains all things books and resources and didn't want to mix it with my homeschooling journey. You can view my other blog at: Lindsey's Reading Corner. I am still working on getting a custom domain and button for my new site as I am also working on getting a custom domain name and button for this site. It's exciting starting these new endeavors but yet scary at the same time as I need to establish connections, etc. I am eager to connect with so many homeschooling families out there.

Feel free to stop on over anytime. I also have an fb page for Lindsey's Reading Corner if you are into staying updated that way as well. Have a blessed Thursday!
